On 18th – 19th September, Mark Robertson, Senior Vice President at ICTI Ethical Toy Program, attended and spoke on a panel at CSR Asia Summit 2019, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand. The focus of on the two-day event was on strategy for results, supply chain innovation, and effectiveness.Mark spoke on a panel entitled “Responsible Sourcing Trends 2019”, alongside Hilde-Gun Vested from Lidl Hong Kong, Lara White from IOM, and Didier Bergeret from CGF. The panel, moderated by Ian Spaulding from ELEVATE, resulted in an engaging discussion between industry experts on topics such as innovation, industry trends and key insights within supply chains.During the panel, we shared perspectives from our work in China, Vietnam and other toy sourcing countries, as well as key responsible sourcing trends we are seeing in 2019. Highlighted trends include a growing emphasis on women’s empowerment and child rights as emerging issues; the growing importance of having people on the ground to support factories, follow-up on issues and deliver remedy where needed; investors evolving expectations of ESG risks mitigation in supply chains;as well as the increasinguse of benchmarks to understand responsible sourcing performance.
