The protection of workers in the toy industry and the introduction of ethical product standards is an important issue that ICTI's Ethical Toy Program has set itself. But how can companies become a member of the program and what benefits does it bring? Carmel Giblin, CEO & President at Ethical Toy Program, explain this and much more in an interview with Spielwarenmesse.

The LEGO Group has become the latest company to join the Ethical Toy Program as a Buyer Member. LEGO will use our Connect platform to monitor and manage their suppliers certified in our program, as well as gaining access to insights and support from our expert team.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director to the ICTI Ethical Toy Program Governing Board.

This page provides regular updates from IETP on the actions we are taking to respond to COVID-19 and manage the impacts of the virus on our buyer and factory members, staff members, and partners. IETP is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and we will review our processes and update them as required.

To address Vietnam suppliers' need of enhancing their understanding on health and safety issues mentioned in the reports of 2023 and provide further details of the HSE training hosted on September 24, 2022, IETP is going to host an in-person, free training specially for toy factories' selected employees.

We are currently preparing our Family-Friendly Workplaces for this years intake. We have 17 factories and nearly 800 children participating in our 2022 Summer Family-Friendly Spaces (FFS) program.

We are delighted to be joined by the Centre for Child-Rights and Corporate Social Responsibility (CCR CSR) – experts in improving the lives of children, young workers, and working migrant parents and implementation partner for the Ethical Toy Program’s Family-Friendly Spaces.

This case study was produced by Shared Value Initiative Hong Kong in May 2023, read the case study on their website here.For workers and their children, the Family-Friendly Spaces program transforms parent-child relationships, and supports the developmental needs of their children. Working parents do not need to worry about their children during the summer months and can more easily concentrate on their work, knowing their children are adequately provided for. The program helps increase employee satisfaction and improves staff turnover rates, with many workers expressing they now wished to continue working at their Family-Friendly Factory.
